Adaptor Cable Type: Direct plug in connection

Adaptor cable plugs into a small connector on the side, bottom or top of the phone/datacard.  Sometimes you may need to lift or remove a small rubber grommet with a pin and then connect the adaptor cable to the connector.  Direct plug in connections provide the best coverage improvements, but please be careful when plugging and unplugging the adaptor cable.  The adaptor cable can break if the cable is pulled suddenly or the phone is dropped when the adaptor cable is connected. Adaptor Cable Type: Passive coupling connection

Some phones and data cards do not have a direct antenna connection port.  In this case you may be able to choose a passive coupling type adaptor cable.  This type of adaptor cable couples the energy from the antenna of the device rather than a direct plug in connection as above.  There is some signal loss as the RF energy couples from the internal antenna of the device to the coupling plate on the adaptor cable.  For this reason passive coupling type adaptor cables do not work as well as direct plug in types. The advantage however of these types of adaptor cables is they are easy to connect to the phone or data card. 

We do not recommend using mag mount antennas with these adaptor cables unless the mag mount is placed outside your home or office and is positioned as high as possible so the boost in the mag mount antenna can overcome the coupling loss of the coupling connection.  If you are choosing one of our home Yagi antennas to work with this type of adaptor cable then this will work well as the coverage benefits of our Yagi antennas is massive. Smile For those of you technically minded - a Yagi antenna can boost the signal level 30+dB (over 1000x) as the signal on your roof is much higher than inside your home, and together with the antenna gain will easily overcome a 3-10dB coupling loss of the adaptor cable.

P1047 (Use the velco ties to hold the antenna pick-up plate onto your datacard/stick)

P892 (Simply place the coupling plate to the back of the phone. The coupling plate links to the phones internal antenna. Velcro is supplied to hold the plate in place)

P9002 (Coupling plate is located in the inside of the cradle.  Simply place the phone in the cradle so the coupling plate can couple to the phones internal antenna).

The Nokia phone shown below is another example of a passive coupling plate. However in this case the coupling plate is specifically designed to fit the Nokia 1110.  The P1047 (mainly used on Vodems and Telecom's T-stick which don't have direct connection), the P892 and the P9002 are universal type passive coupling connections.
